Queen of Hills

Ooty the queen of hills is found in Nilgris district on the Western part of Tamil Nadu

One can take transport through road rail or air. Nearest Railway station is Mettupalayam Junction, the airport nearest is Coimbatore international airport, Peelamedu. Bus transportation takes you till charring cross, Ooty.

Pykara

20 kms from charring cross is Pykara, which is a name of village and river. The most attractive tourist spot of this place is Pykara lake, where boating is allowed. Motor boats and speed boats are available here.

Pine forest, filled with tall coniferous trees with slope land leading down to a lake. This is found on the way to Pykara Lake.

You can have enjoyable slippery walk down the slope to reach the lake view. This lake provides the nature’s best scene, where you can click photographs.

Wenlock downs

This is called the sixth mile and ninth mile, (six and miles from ooty road respectively) famous shooting spots for the Film Industry. A grassland area with undulating hills provides good panoramic view of the Nilgris District. Apt for picnic lunch, nature walks.

Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a treasured element and fabled charm of Nilgiris since 1899. This Nilgiri rail system is unique as it is the steepest one in Asia. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO during 2005. Another interesting thing associated with the Nilgiri Railway is that the youngest X class loco is over 50 years old and the oldest is 80 years old.

Ooty Botanical garden is another tourist spot where one could see various species of plants and flowers.  Around thousand species of plants shrubs and trees are present. Flower shows will be held at various seasons over the year.

Homemade chocolates, medicinal aroma oils, tea leaves, varki biscuits, sweaters are items to shop at Ooty.
